Rayo Vallecano 2-1 Deportivo La Coruna

Rayo Vallecano defeat Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 at home to win for the first time in four La Liga games.

Rayo Vallecano have defeated Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 at home to break their three-game losing streak in in La Liga.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Francisco 'Piti' Medina shot home from the centre of the Depor box.

It became 2-0 to Rayo on 29 minutes when Jose Carlos Fernandez fired in after being teed up by Andrija Delibasic.

However, Depor halved the deficit at the Vallecas Stadium four minutes from the half-time interval.

Javi Fuego's challenge on Alex Bergantinos inside the area saw the referee point to the spot, and Luis 'Pizzi' Afonso made no mistake in finding the target from 12 yards.

Both sides made attacking forays in the second half to add to the scoreline, but it eventually finished 2-1 to Rayo.
