Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey upbeat despite Brentford defeat

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey is upbeat that his side can challenge for promotion to the Premier League despite their inconsistent form in the Championship.

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey has revealed that he is confident his side can achieve consistency and push for promotion from the Championship.

The R's lost 1-0 to rivals Brentford on Friday, suffering their third defeat in their last six matches, which has left them off the pace for promotion in the second tier.

However, Ramsey is upbeat that his team can put together a run in the second half of the campaign to challenge for a place in the Premier League.

Ramsey told Sky Sports News: "You have to take your chances when you get them and we didn't do that. When you go away and play in this league you have to play ugly and sometimes we are being too naive.

"We gave the ball away cheaply for their goal, we went for a counter-attack and they ended up scoring. The fans want the bragging rights and we feel sorry for them. They gave us support and unfortunately we haven't been able to give them the three points.

"From my point of view, when you are in this seat you have to abide by what the owners want you to do. When we get more settled I'm sure we can put a little run together and hopefully be up there."

The defeat at Griffin Park was Rangers' fifth of the season.
