Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly open to selling Georginio Wijnaldum after a difficult first season in Ligue 1, and there is plenty of interest from the Premier League.

Paris Saint-Germain are open to parting ways with Georginio Wijnaldum after just one season, according to a report.

The 31-year-old arrived at the Parc des Princes after running down his Liverpool contract last summer, but he struggled to become a regular fixture in Mauricio Pochettino's first XI.

Wijnaldum ended his debut season at PSG with three goals and three assists from 38 appearances in all competitions, but he only started 18 games in their triumphant Ligue 1 campaign.

The likes of Marco Verratti, Danilo Pereira, Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera were often preferred to Wijnaldum in the engine room, and the Netherlands international is only under contract at the club for another two years.

PSG are expected to strengthen their midfield with at least one or two new acquisitions in the summer transfer window, which would push Wijnaldum further down the pecking order at the club.

According to 90 min, the Ligue 1 champions are therefore willing to offload Wijnaldum for the right price this summer, although the Dutchman is more likely to leave on loan given his weekly wage packet.

The report adds that the former Liverpool and Newcastle United man has his sights set on a return to the Premier League, and no fewer than four top-flight English clubs are ready to pounce.

Everton, Leicester City, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers supposedly all hold an interest in bringing Wijnaldum back to England, but there is also interest from Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga.

Liverpool were tipped to welcome Wijnaldum back to Anfield at one stage, but the Reds are not believed to be considering a move for the PSG man as they postpone their midfielder search until 2023.

With Aurelien Tchouameni heading to Real Madrid and Jude Bellingham remaining at Borussia Dortmund for at least one more year, Jurgen Klopp's side are unlikely to try to bolster their engine room this summer.

The Reds are also not expected to allow Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave the club, and the door is seemingly shut on a possible return to Merseyside for Wijnaldum.

The Magpies have also been linked with a swoop for their former lynchpin following their lucrative takeover, but 90Min adds that Eddie Howe's side have not made contact over a potential move.

PSG are rumoured to be closing in on the signing of Porto's Vitinha to add to their midfield ranks, while Lens' star man Seko Fofana has earmarked the Parc des Princes as his ideal destination for a summer transfer.

Incoming sporting director Luis Campos is also thought to be keen to strike a deal for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, who won the 2020-21 Ligue 1 title with Les Dogues alongside Campos and Christophe Galtier.

PSG have reportedly agreed a €10m (£8.6m) deal to hire Galtier as their new manager from Nice, with Pochettino's sacking expected to be confirmed by the club imminently.
