Plymouth Argyle have given their survival hopes a huge boost with victory against Exeter City in the Devon derby this afternoon.
A tight match was settled just before the break when Jason Banton aimed a measured finish into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Exeter were brighter after the interval and introduced Jake Gosling and John O'Flynn in search of an equaliser.
Veteran striker Jamie Cureton sent a shot wide from close range as Plymouth held firm in the closing stages.
Cureton was then denied by a strong save from Jake Cole as the home side defended their narrow advantage.
Plymouth did just enough to secure all three points and move five clear of Aldershot Town and York City in the relegation zone.
