Greenock Morton secured promotion to the Scottish Championship with a resounding 3-1 victory over Peterhead this afternoon.
Gary McDonald gave the visitors an early lead, but Scott Ross's red card after 20 minutes changed the momentum of the game, with goals from Michael Miller, Mark Russell and Declan McManus securing Morton an easy victory in the end.
Stranraer defeated 10-man Brechin City 3-1 to climb to second in the league. Stephen Stirling gave Stranraer the lead before Ryan Ferguson equalised. Two penalties either side of half time from William Gibson saw off the challenge of Brechin, who had Darren McCormack sent off.
Forfar Athletic slipped down to third after losing to Ayr United 3-1 at home, but remain in the playoff places. Michael Dunlop was sent off in the first half for Forfar, who had opened the scoring through a Dale Hilson penalty in the seventh minute. United recovered and hit back via a Jon Paul McGovern penalty and a goal each from Jordan Preston and Alan Forrest.
Stenhousemuir finished in the relegation playoff place after Ayr's victory and a 3-2 loss to already-relegated Stirling Albion. Stenhousemuir were leading until injury time, but Ross Forsyth and Andy Stirling struck late on. Goals from Colin McMenamin and Craig Sutherland had given Stenhousemuir the lead, with Gordon Smith grabbing Stirling's other goal.
Lastly, Airdrieonians beat Dunfermline Athletic 3-2 in a dead rubber thanks to a late winner from Robert McHugh. McHugh had already scored to add to Jordan Morton's goal. Andy Geggan and Josh Falkingham scored for Dunfermline.
