Northampton Town's top goalscorer Marc Richards could miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.
Richards, who is also the league's most prolific striker with 17 goals, is likely to miss six to eight weeks of action after he suffered a tear in his Achilles tendon.
"It is a major blow for us," Cobblers manager Chris Wilder told the club's official website.
"Any team would feel the absence of not just their top scorer, but the top scorer in the league.
"Marc has been superb for us this season and we will miss him, but we have shown we can get results against the best teams in this league without him and this will give extended opportunities to other players."
The former Port Vale striker has played 25 games for Northampton this season.
