Roy Hodgson insists that there are lots of positives to take from tonight's friendly with Sweden despite slipping to a 4-2 defeat.

England manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that he will focus on the positives from his side's battling defeat to Sweden.

Goals from Danny Welbeck and Steven Caulker had the Three Lions ahead with 15 minutes to go before an inspired intervention from Zlatan Ibrahimovic snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Hodgson admitted that he was disappointed to lose but was pleased with the way that his young players coped under pressure.

He told BBC Sport: "I thought it was a good performance. Obviously, it was disappointing to concede three goals in the last 15 minutes when we were looking so good at 2-1. It was a good performance to get us into that position.

"I took the risk to give debutants a chance, obviously that will open things up, and I was hoping we'd hold out. Ibrahimovic scored a wonder goal to put the icing on cake, but for large periods of the game I can be more than satisfied.

"For long periods we were quite dominant and in control. I thought our passing and movement was good and when we took the 2-1 lead it was a correct assessment of what we had seen on the field. Ibrahimovic being kept on cost us a result."

Hodgson handed international debuts to a number of players in Stockholm including Leon Osman, Carl Jenkinson, Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Zaha.
