Juventus edge closer to the Serie A title as Napoli are held to a 2-2 draw by Torino in Sunday's encounter at Stadio San Paolo.

Juventus have edged closer to the Serie A title as Napoli were held to a 2-2 draw by Torino in Sunday's encounter at Stadio San Paolo.

The Bianconeri beat Bologna 3-1 on Saturday to increase their lead at the summit to seven points with two games to go, and the Partenopei could only reduce the gap by one point.

Birthday boy Dries Mertens opened the scoring on 25 minutes as Nicolas Burdisso's errors allowed the Belgian to pounce and tap home from eight yards, ending his eight-game goal drought.

Daniele Baselli drew the Granata level just before the hour mark, latching on to Adem Ljajic's through-ball and firing past Pepe Reina via a Vlad Chiriches deflection.

Maurizio Sarri's charges edged in front again in the 71st minute through Marek Hamsik, who curled a ferocious shot past Salvatore Sirigu from just outside the box.

However, Juve's bitter city rivals would go on to claim a point as Lorenzo De Silvestri made the most of a lackadaisical Napoli backline to slam home a free header seven minutes from time.

NAPOLI (4-3-3): Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Chiriches, Rui; Allan, Jorginho, Zielinski (Hamsik 69'); Callejon (Ounas 87'), Mertens (Milik 62'), Insigne

TORINO (3-5-1-1): Sirigu; Nkoulou, Burdisso, Bonifazi; De Silvestri, Acquah, Baselli (Falque 78'), Rincon (Valdifiori 87'), Ansaldi; Ljajic; Niang (Belotti 62')
