Rolland Courbis has resigned from his role as manager of Montpellier HSC.
The 62-year-old took charge of his hometown club for a second time in 2013 and enjoyed initial success at the Stade de la Mosson, taking the team away from danger and going on to finish seventh in Ligue 1 last season.
However, Courbis's position came under heavy scrutiny at the start of the current campaign as his side took just one point from their opening seven games, failing to record their first victory until the final match of September.
They have since improved to sit 15th in the table heading into the winter break, but Friday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nice has proven to be the final game of his second spell.
Montpellier have already announced that they will unveil Courbis's successor on Sunday.
