Middlesbrough agree Darren Randolph deal

Middlesbrough 'agree a deal in principle' to sign Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph from West Ham United.

Middlesbrough have 'agreed a deal in principle' to sign Darren Randolph from West Ham United.

The 30-year-old made 22 Premier League appearances for West Ham last season, but the arrival of Joe Hart on loan from Manchester City led to suggestions that the Republic of Ireland international would be moved on this summer.

Randolph was reportedly keen to remain in the Premier League, but Middlesbrough have convinced the experienced goalkeeper to drop into the Championship for the 2017-18 campaign.

"The club have agreed a deal in principle with West Ham United to sign goalkeeper Darren Randolph, subject to a medical and personal terms," read a statement on Middlesbrough's official website.

"The Republic of Ireland international will travel to Rockliffe Park on Saturday in anticipation of finalising the move."

Should Randolph, who has earned 21 caps for his country, move to the Riverside Stadium, he would become head coach Garry Monk's sixth summer arrival.
