Western Sydney Wanderers ease to win over Melbourne City

Goals from Mitch Nicholls, Federico Piovaccari and Mark Bridge earn Western Sydney Wanderers a 3-0 win away at Melbourne City.

Western Sydney Wanderers have moved into third place in the A-League table with a 3-0 victory away at Melbourne City.

Chances were few and far between during a quiet opening 45 minutes, with Dimas and Dario Vidosic both seeing deflected efforts go wide of the target for Wanderers as Melbourne struggled to make an impact.

Two minutes after the restart, though, Wanderers broke the deadlock through Mitch Nicholls, who found the back of the net after converting a cross from Vidosic.

Just past the hour mark, it was two as Federico Piovaccari netted his first goal of the season before the result was put beyond doubt six minutes from time.

Jaushua Sotiro's effort looked to be heading wide but Mark Bridge was perfectly placed to tap in for his 50th goal for the club.
