Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has insisted that the players are to blame for the club's recent run of poor form.

Didier Deschamps's side have moved down to ninth in the Ligue 1 table, while they were also beaten 2-0 at home by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final in midweek.

"Right now, the people who are responsible are us, the players," Valbuena told RMC. "We deserve the blame. We haven't done our work properly."

Marseille travel to Munich for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday.
