Benjamin Mendy pleased with Marseille attitude

Marseille defender Benjamin Mendy is disappointed to have lost to Borussia Dortmund, but is pleased with their attitude in the contest.

Marseille defender Benjamin Mendy has said that he was pleased with his side's attitude against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The French outfit suffered their sixth successive defeat in the competition as they went down 2-1 to the eventual Group F winners at the Stade Velodrome.

"We can't say we reacted well [to recent problems] because we lost, but in terms of attitude everyone fought to win and played together," UEFA.com quotes the 19-year-old as saying. "Once again, that just wasn't enough.

"We had to give everything at home for ourselves, the fans and the club. We owed it to ourselves to take the three points tonight. We wanted to show we have a good attitude, because that's what we often get criticised for, and we also wanted to show that we're still Marseille and that the wins will start coming very soon.

"It's a difficult period, but that's football – there are highs and lows and things can change very quickly. We just have to keep going forward and not give up."

Marseille are currently fifth in Ligue 1 with 27 points from 17 matches.
