Marseille's Benoit Cheyrou pleased with display against Borussia Dortmund

Benoit Cheyrou believes that Marseille showed improvement during their 2-1 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou believes that his side's performance against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday was positive.

The French side ended their Champions League Group F campaign with a sixth successive defeat as they went down 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome.

"If you focus on the result, it's frustrating, but in terms of the performance things look better," UEFA.com quotes the 32-year-old as saying. "We're very tired. We're gave everything tonight, and it's a shame we conceded that goal at the end.

"You can't discard everything we've done over the last week. We played well against Lille [last Tuesday] and we played well again this evening. We reacted well.

"It says good things about our mentality that we were able to equalise, and to put in so much effort together and suffer together when we were playing with 10 men."

Marseille played most of the game with 10 men as Dimitri Payet was sent off for two bookable offences in the 34th minute.
