Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly held 'clear-the-air talks' with Nemanja Matic in the latter stages of 2019.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly held 'clear-the-air talks' with Nemanja Matic before the Serbia international was given a run in the team.

Matic hardly featured in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign due to the availability of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Fred in the middle of the park.

Injuries to Pogba and McTominay opened the door for the 31-year-old, though, and he has now started nine of United's last 10 Premier League matches, only missing out against Wolverhampton Wanderers through suspension.

The Red Devils have recently activated a 12-month extension on the Serbian's contract, but it has been reported that the experienced midfielder could be in line for a new two-year deal.

According to The Times, Solskjaer and Matic decided to clear the air in the latter stages of 2019, leading to the former Chelsea anchorman staying at Old Trafford beyond the end of the January transfer window.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League table as they chase down a top-four spot, although there is no guarantee that the 2019-20 campaign will be allowed to resume.
