Burnley have reportedly denied that talks between Danny Ings and Manchester United have been held, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
It had been speculated over the weekend that United are in pole position to sign the striker after arranging discussions.
Under FIFA rules, only overseas clubs can contact Ings regarding a possible transfer as his contract does not expire until June, while clubs in England can only discuss a summer move with Ings if they agree terms with Burnley first.
Liverpool and La Liga side Real Sociedad have also been linked with the 22-year-old.
