Former Netherlands attacker Marc Overmars has urged Manchester United's Donny van de Beek to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old has struggled to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield on a consistent basis, starting a measly two Premier League games in the 2020-21 campaign.
Van de Beek has unsurprisingly been linked with a move away amid his lack of game time, but his compatriot Overmars has urged him to prove his worth to Solskjaer next season.
Speaking to NOS, the former Arsenal man said: "I think Donny should just fight, stay next year and try to claim a starting place. You shouldn't leave so quickly."
A recent report claimed that United are not prepared to consider selling Van de Beek this summer, with the former Ajax man under contract at the club until 2025.
Van de Beek has totalled 32 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring one goal and assisting two more.
