Newcastle United are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.
Despite beginning the season as United's left-back, Shaw has failed to start a game since the 4-0 Premier League defeat to Brentford on August 13.
The 27-year-old has come off the bench at half time in United's last two matches, but Erik ten Hag continues to prefer Tyrell Malacia in his starting lineup.
With playing time at a premium, Shaw's future at the club appears to be uncertain, especially as his current contract expires next summer, although United have an option to extend that deal by a further year.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle are interested in signing Shaw as they look to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer windows.
Matt Targett and Dan Burn can both play left-back for the Magpies, but Newcastle believe that Shaw would be an upgrade on their current options.
The report indicates that Newcastle will continue to monitor Shaw's situation, with a bid being considered for when the transfer window reopens in January.
In his 218 appearances for United, Shaw has chipped in with three goals and 22 assists.
