Manchester United reportedly had scouts in attendance to watch Florentino Luis in action during Benfica's 2-0 victory over Estrela Amadora in the Primeira Liga on Saturday evening.
The 23-year-old was a half-time substitute in the league contest, replacing Joao Neves in the middle of the park, and he was on the field when Benfica scored both of their goals.
Luis also featured off the bench in the team's first game of their league season on August 14, with the Portuguese being heavily linked with a transfer during the summer window.
According to journalist Pedro Almeida, Man United are currently monitoring Luis, with the Red Devils scouting him on Saturday as the club weigh up an offer before the end of the transfer market.
Almeida claims that there has recently been a €40m (£34.2m) offer for the midfielder, but it was not the 20-time English champions that submitted the bid.

Nottingham Forest have recently been credited with an interest, while Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are all believed to be long-term admirers.
Luis came through the youth system at Benfica, and he has represented their first team on 88 occasions in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering four assists.
The midfielder spent a period on loan at Monaco during the 2020-21 campaign, while he also featured in Spain's top flight for Getafe during the 2021-22 campaign.
Last season, Luis, who has been capped on 12 occasions by Portugal Under-21s, made 54 appearances for Benfica in all competitions, including 10 appearances in the Champions League.

Man United have made three signings during this summer's transfer window, with Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund arriving at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are still said to be in the market for another midfielder, with Fred already departing, which has opened up space in the squad.
The rules surrounding Financial Fair Play mean that Man United must make further sales before bringing in any more players, though, and head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed that Donny van de Beek could leave.
Scott McTominay could also potentially be on the move before the end of the transfer window, with the Scotland international an unused substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Eric Bailly and Anthony Martial are also being linked with moves away from the 20-time English champions in the latter stages of the transfer window.
