Manchester United reportedly no longer feel the need to prioritise bringing in a new centre-back during the summer due to Harry Maguire's recent form.
The world's most expensive defender has helped United to five clean sheets in their last nine matches in all competitions.
United were said to be concerned by a drop-off in Maguire's performances at the start of the season, not helped by off-field issues.
According to the Manchester Evening News, however, the 27-year-old's upturn in form has taken the pressure off the Red Devils' search for defensive cover.
Rather than looking for a new leader at the back, it is suggested that United may instead look to bring in a partner for Maguire further down the line, though that depends on how Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly perform between now and the summer.
United are second in the Premier League ahead of their home match against Everton on Saturday night.
