Report: Manchester United to use Jonny Evans in bid for John Stones

Jonny Evans could be used by Manchester United in their efforts to sign John Stones from Everton, according to reports.

Manchester United could try to strike a deal with Everton over the transfer of centre-back John Stones by including Jonny Evans in the package, according to reports.

Stones has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park in this window, and Premier League champions Chelsea have reportedly had two offers rejected.

Their interest has sparked a bidding war, according to The Mirror, which expects United and Manchester City to enter the fray.

Everton have been linked with Evans in the past and could be tempted by a cash-plus-player offer, although they still remain firm that the 21-year-old is not for sale.

Stones has broken into the Toffees' first-team plans over the past couple of years, and played 28 times for them last season.
