Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo has revealed that he is determined to sign a new deal at Camp Nou.
The 23-year-old has been a key player for the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign, making 34 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals in the process.
However, Araujo's contract with Barcelona is due to expire in June 2023, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.
Manchester United are believed to be desperate to sign the Uruguay international, while Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest.
Araujo, though, is "optimistic" that an agreement over a fresh deal will soon be reached, so the defender can continue to represent Barcelona for "many years".
"This week we have a meeting to discuss the contract. I hope it will be resolved soon so that I can continue many years in this club. I am optimistic. I'm so proud to be a Barcelona player, I'm happy - we're working on it," Araujo told reporters.
The South American has allegedly only received one contract proposal at this stage, which was rejected, and Man United are believed to be preparing 'a high transfer offer' for the centre-back.
