Barcelona boss Xavi has said that his side 'cannot afford' to lose the central defender, who has also been linked with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
According to Sport, Man United are preparing to launch 'a high transfer offer' for the 23-year-old in the hope of securing his services during this summer's transfer window.
The report claims that this week will be 'key' when it comes to the South American's future, as Barcelona will step up their efforts to convince him to sign a contract extension.
Xavi's side will allegedly consider selling Araujo this summer if he does not sign a new deal in the coming weeks, though, with the club fearful of losing him on a free transfer in 2023.
The defender has been a key player for Barcelona this season, making 33 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals in the process.
