Liverpool could reportedly go head-to-head with Manchester City for the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich during this summer's transfer window.
The 28-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, as his contract at Allianz Arena is due to expire in June 2025, and the midfielder is thought to be keen on a fresh challenge at this stage of his career.
Kimmich made the move to Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015, and he has represented the Munich giants on 370 occasions in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and registering 100 assists in the process.
The Germany international has won 20 trophies during his time at Bayern, including eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, while he has again been a key player this season, making 23 appearances, scoring one goal and registering six assists.
Bayern are expected to be open to a sale this summer if he asks to depart, and Man City continue to be heavily linked with the midfielder.

According to Bild, though, there is also serious interest from Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp's side set to be in the race for his signature ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
The report claims that Bayern are not prepared to run the risk of losing him on a free transfer, so it is probable that he will be on the move during this summer's transfer window.
Liverpool head coach Klopp allegedly wants another central midfielder to boost his squad this summer and views Kimmich as the ideal acquisition.
Kimmich said after last weekend's Bundesliga loss to Werder Bremen that he was frustrated with manager Thomas Tuchel's decision to replace him in the second half of the contest.

"Of course I always want to be on the pitch for 90 minutes, especially when we're behind. That's normal, it's the same for every player. Everyone wants to do everything they can to help the team win," he told reporters after his side's one-goal defeat.
However, Kimmich played the full 90 minutes of Wednesday's clash with Union Berlin, which Bayern won 1-0 courtesy of a second-half effort from Raphael Guerreiro.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the German, although a switch to Old Trafford would be highly unlikely if the club are not in the Champions League next season.
The Red Devils are currently eighth in the Premier League table, 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, while they sit eight points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
