Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has reportedly told the club to sign a ball-playing central defender and a defensive midfielder in this summer's transfer window.
The Portuguese playmaker has been in fantastic form throughout this campaign, recording 27 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.
Fernandes is now keen to see the club progress in both the Premier League and the Champions League and, according to The Sun, he has identified two positions that the club should look to strengthen.
The 26-year-old believes that a centre-back with a fine passing ability, who can feature alongside captain Harry Maguire, would allow him to concentrate on his midfield role further up the pitch.
Fernandes also feels that the acquisition of a tough-tackling defensive midfielder would also benefit the club, to help protect the back four and to also allow other key players such as Paul Pogba more freedom to operate further forward.
United have been linked with a plethora of Europe's most sought-after talents, including central defenders Rafael Varane from Real Madrid, Jules Kounde from Sevilla and Pau Torres from Villarreal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also understood to be an admirer of West Ham United and England international Declan Rice, who can play as a defensive midfielder or as a centre-back.
