Angel di Maria: 'Manchester United only club I'd have left Real Madrid for'

New Manchester United signing Angel di Maria insists that the Red Devils are the "only club" that he would have left Real Madrid for.

New Manchester United signing Angel di Maria has insisted that the Red Devils are the "only club" that he would have left Real Madrid for.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with reports linking him with French champions Paris Saint-Germain as well as United.

However, Louis van Gaal's side confirmed the British record transfer earlier this evening, and Di Maria was quick to express his excitement at working under the new United manager.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for," the Argentine told the club's official website.

"Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started."

Van Gaal is still looking for his first win in charge of United, having picked up just one point from his opening two Premier League matches at the helm.
