Louis van Gaal: Angel di Maria an "excellent addition" for Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal talks up the ability of new record signing Angel di Maria after he joins the club on a five-year deal.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hailed the signing of Angel di Maria, saying that the midfielder will be "an excellent addition to the team".

The Red Devils completed the capture of the 26-year-old this evening for a British record transfer fee of £59.7m.

"Angel is a world-class midfielder but most importantly he is a team player," Van Gaal told the club's official website. "There is no doubting his immense natural talent.

"He is a tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence. His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team."

Di Maria, who has been capped 52 times for Argentina, joins United on a five-year contract.
