Manchester United defender Daley Blind is reportedly 'fearful' that he will be sold on by the club next summer due to his current contractual situation at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old, who has been with United since 2014, is out of contract at the end of the season - although the club are expected to take up a one-year option to extend his stay until 2019.

According to The Times, however, Jose Mourinho's side will only activate the extension in order to ensure that they can then sell him on for a fee over the summer rather than lose him on a free.

The newspaper says that longer-term contract discussions have yet to be held and the Dutchman is consequently concerned "that his time at Old Trafford may come to an end at the end of the season".

A report earlier this week suggested that Mourinho is in the market for new full-backs and is planning to offload players in order to pay for replacements.

Blind, who was linked with Inter Milan last summer, has not started for United in their last 11 Premier League games.
