David Alaba has reportedly made it clear to interested clubs that he wants to operate in central midfield.
The Austria international will leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer, and a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Real Madrid, have been strongly linked with his services.
Alaba has largely operated as a left-back during his professional career but has mainly featured as a central defender over the last couple of seasons.
The 28-year-old is also capable of playing in central midfield, and according to Le Parisien, Alaba has set his sights on joining a team that intend to use him in the middle of the park.
The report claims that the Austrian will not rule out playing in defence for a proposed new team but would prioritise joining a club that want him to operate as a midfielder.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also both said to be in the hunt for the nine-time Bundesliga winner, who has scored twice and registered two assists in 31 outings for Bayern this season.
