The sporting director of Al-Nassr refuses to rule out the club signing Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been without a club since his Manchester United contract was terminated.

The sporting director of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr has refused to rule out the club signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old left Manchester United in November, with the club terminating his contract after an explosive interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised the club and manager Erik ten Hag.

Al-Nassr sporting director Marcelo Salazar has confirmed the club's interest in Ronaldo, but could not clarify their exact position on the former Real Madrid forward.

"We will wait to see how things develop until the end of the year. As you must understand, this is a negotiation of enormous magnitude, not only for the club, but for the country and for world soccer, and it has to be carried out at a higher level," Salazar told Flashscore.

"He was always an example for me as an athlete, for the will he shows to win. And then, as a Portuguese citizen, I always supported him. But at the right time the future will be revealed."

The Portugal international was asked about a move to the Saudi club during the World Cup and insisted that a deal was not imminent.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been without a club since November 22 and scored just one Premier League goal for the Red Devils in 10 Premier League appearances this season before the termination.
