Shaun Derry believes that Queens Park Rangers can beat the drop if they can perform as they did against Arsenal.
Mark Hughes' men triumphed 2-1 at Loftus Road yesterday to go level on points with Blackburn Rovers.
Derry said that QPR have lacked grit this season but he and his teammates are determined to steer the cub away from trouble.
"We shouldn't be down there, we have let ourselves down," the 34-year-old told talkSPORT. "It has been a disappointing season for us but we are where we are because we haven't been good enough.
"Many more performances like today and I'm sure we will win. That's what has let us down this season – it's the grittiness, the determination that has been lacking at certain games.
"But we've shown that we can do that today and coupled with the ability that we have in the squad we can get out of this – we really can."
The R's travel to Manchester United next Sunday.
