Manchester United's Louis van Gaal made James Wilson change shirt number

Manchester United's James Wilson reveals that Louis van Gaal made him change his shirt number from 47 to 49.

Manchester United youngster James Wilson has revealed that manager Louis van Gaal recently changed his shirt number because the previous didn't suit his position as a striker.

The 18-year-old, who made a substitute appearance in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford, has switched from 47 to 49.

"As I'm a striker, the gaffer wanted me to have a nine in my number, and 49 was the closest," Wilson told MUTV.

Wilson, who made his first-team debut last season, has featured three times so far this season.
