Bryan Robson persuades retired midfielder Paul Scholes to take part in Manchester United's charity match against Real Madrid next month.

Bryan Robson has persuaded Paul Scholes to take part in Manchester United's charity match against Real Madrid next month.

Scholes retired from professional football following United's 5-5 draw with West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

However, the 38-year-old has agreed to join the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam and Teddy Sheringham in signing up for a legends fixture between the English champions and the Spanish giants at Old Trafford on June 2.

"Scholsey will love not just being on the pitch with Real Madrid, but with Zinedine Zidane," said Robson, who will manage the United team.

"In the past, he has said that Scholsey was the best midfield player in the world, so it will be nice for Paul to see him again and play against him and the rest of the Real Madrid players."

The match will raise money on behalf of the Manchester United Foundation.
