Wayne Rooney: Manchester United players "fighting" for Louis van Gaal

The Manchester United squad are completely behind manager Louis van Gaal, according to captain Wayne Rooney.

Wayne Rooney has insisted that the Manchester United squad remain behind their manager Louis van Gaal.

Having won none of their last six matches in all competitions, there have been widespread suggestions that Van Gaal's days at Old Trafford are numbered.

Indeed, a report claimed yesterday that a selection of senior United players had asked the Dutchman to alter his methods, both on matchdays and during training sessions.

However, despite the speculation, Rooney has stressed that the team are still "fighting" hard to turn things around for their boss.

"The last few weeks results haven't been great for us. It's frustrating. We have to be strong together and try to get the better results we need," the captain told Sky Sports News.

"We can do better. We're working it out and fighting for the manager to turn our season around."

Tomorrow Van Gaal will take his team to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City.
