Jose Mourinho opens up on top-four chances

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho remains confident that his team will break into the Premier League top four this season.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is confident that his team will break into the Premier League top four this season, but remained coy when asked about a possible title challenge.

United are currently eighth in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed Arsenal and nine points off the division leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils face a tough trip to Bournemouth this weekend, but Mourinho has predicted that his team will soon embark on a winning run which will take them into the top four.

"When you are outside the top four I don't believe you should speak about the title," Mourinho told reporters.

"When you are in the top four - which I believe we are going to be - you can look up, see the distance, see the fixtures, you can look at the situation at that moment with injuries, suspensions and form, then you can feel it.

"In this moment, we are outside the top four so I think the point now is to get the points we need and to try to be in a better position by the end of December, like I expect to be."

United have dropped points in five of their 10 Premier League matches this season.
