Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho tells the media to 'stop writing lies' about Paul Pogba, saying that he and the French midfielder hold a "respected" relationship.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed suggestions that Paul Pogba is unhappy at Old Trafford, claiming that the midfielder is "working extremely well".

Pogba has been linked with a transfer away from United this summer, and the player himself has given mixed signals regarding his future at the Premier League side.

Reports in the media have also said that there is a growing rift between Mourinho and Pogba, but the Portuguese has called on the media to 'stop writing lies' about the club-record signing.

At a press conference, the 55-year-old told reporters: "I want him to play well, I want him to play for that team, the fans, and that is what it is.

"He's working extremely well here but I have to say in his defence, write what you want about him, me, please don't say lies, don't put him in a situation that people can think he's not a polite, educated guy, he is.

"He never had a fight with me. We never had a harsh exchange of words, everything is respected, I have no problems at all."

United have reportedly ruled out the possibility of selling Pogba before the end of August.
