Roberto Martinez: Louis van Gaal has "real understanding" of winning

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that Louis van Gaal brings a "real understanding of how to win games" to Manchester United.

Roberto Martinez has said that Louis van Gaal's past record shows that he has a "real understanding of how to win games" ahead of Everton's trip to Old Trafford this weekend.

Manchester United will be looking for back-to-back wins for the first time in the league this season when they host the Toffees on Sunday.

The manager told reporters: "When a new manager arrives with that sort of experience of winning the league in every country he has been managing in, it brings a real understanding of how to win games.

"From my point of view, to fit the bill is to be able to win titles and that is what is expected when you go into a football club like Manchester United. If you are going to see it from the outside, it looks like a manager who will bring success into the football club."

Last season, Everton secured an away win against United for the first time since 1992.
