Eric Cantona compares Anthony Martial to Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona compares Anthony Martial to former Brazil striker Ronaldo and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has compared compatriot Anthony Martial to three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a memorable debut season for the Red Devils, directly contributing to 25 goals in all competitions and helping them to the final of the FA Cup.

Cantona sees comparisons between the Frenchman and former Brazil striker Ronaldo, and also hinted at a belief that Martial's career could follow the trajectory of another three-time World Player of the Year in Cristiano Ronaldo.

"He's very mature for his age. I think he's the same kind of player as the Brazilian Ronaldo. He's as strong as him, he's skilful, he wants to score goals, he has good vision," he told Manchester United's official website.

"At Manchester it is a great club for young players when you are in the Academy and also when you are 18, 19, 20 years old. You need to go and play for a great team and also you need to work with people who will help you because you're still a young player, as the Portuguese Ronaldo did when he came to play for United and for [Sir Alex] Ferguson.

"He had the opportunity to win trophies but also Ferguson helped him to be the player he is today and I think [Martial] has been very clever to choose Manchester United."

Martial became the most expensive teenager in football history when he signed for United last summer.
