David de Gea prepared for Iker Casillas battle

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is ready to go head to head with Porto's Iker Casillas for the Spain No.1 position.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed that he is ready for a "healthy" battle with Iker Casillas for Spain's No.1 spot at Euro 2016.

De Gea was preferred to the experienced Porto stopper in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Italy, but Casillas is expected to be given the chance to impress against Romania on Sunday night.

De Gea made a string of impressive stops against Italy, and the 25-year-old has vowed to 'give everything he can' in a bid to secure the gloves for the showpiece event in France.

"I'm happy to get minutes and put in a good performance. Competition is healthy. The coach will decide who plays," De Gea told reporters. "We're talking about one of the best goalkeepers in the history of this country and the world [in Casillas]. I'm here to give everything I can."

Sevilla's Sergio Rico is currently the third-choice goalkeeper for European champions Spain.
