Jamie Carragher: 'Manchester United deserved draw away at Upton Park'

Football pundit Jamie Carragher believes that Manchester United deserved a point after they came from a goal down to draw 1-1 away at West Ham United.

Pundit Jamie Carragher has suggested that Manchester United's 1-1 draw away against West Ham United was more down to hard work than luck.

Louis van Gaal's men had to rely on a last-minute strike from midfielder Daley Blind in order to secure a point on the road, after Cheikhou Kouyate had originally given the Hammers the lead with a fine finish early in the second half.

"West Ham were hanging on and people say Man Utd got a lucky goal but it's not luck," Carragher said on Sky Sports after the game.

"They did it again - they've done it plenty of times. How many times have we said they haven't played well and got a point?

"I admire Van Gaal for what he did - he brought [Marouane] Fellaini on. I admire the fact he threw his values out of the window and that's where the goal came from."

United currently occupy fourth position in the Premier League table, with 44 points from 24 games so far this season.
