Ben Amos wants to 'play out of his skin' for Carlisle United

Manchester United's Ben Amos says that he hopes to 'play out of his skin' during his loan spell at Carlisle United and admits that he has been frustrated at Old Trafford recently.

Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos has said that he hopes to 'play out of his skin' during his loan spell at Carlisle United.

The 23-year-old, who has represented England three times at Under-21 level, joined the Cumbrians until December 14 earlier this week.

"When contact was made between the two clubs I indicated straight away that I wanted to come to Carlisle. I'm in a good frame of mind and ready for the challenge," he told the News & Star.

"I've been welcomed really well. It seems quite a quirky place with a lot of character. When I played against Carlisle before the atmosphere and environment made an impression on me.

"As it stands I'm not eligible for the FA Cup but I believe that could change. I just want to play out of my skin for Carlisle. It's a new team and I have to get to know them but I do think I can hit the ground running."

Amos has made just seven senior appearances for the Red Devils, his last coming in January 2012, and he admits that life at Old Trafford has been frustrating for him recently.

"The last few months haven't been easy at all, I'd be lying if I said otherwise," he added.

"After a good pre-season I thought I had a shot at being number two to push David de Gea, but I wasn't selected in the squad and at that stage clubs had their goalkeepers sorted, so it was hard to get out on loan.

"I've just been working my backside off in training, trying to keep myself motivated, which thankfully I've managed to do."

Amos will make his Carlisle debut later today when Graham Kavanagh's side host Crawley Town in League One.
