Erling Braut Haaland and Phil Foden are both named in Manchester City's starting lineup for this lunchtime's Premier League showdown against rivals Manchester United.

Erling Braut Haaland and Phil Foden have both been named in Manchester City's starting lineup for this lunchtime's Premier League showdown against rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The two attackers both scored hat-trick against the Red Devils in a thumping 6-3 victory at the Etihad Stadium in October, and Pep Guardiola has decided to name the duo in his first XI this afternoon, with Haaland returning to the side after beginning on the substitutes' bench in City's last two domestic cup fixtures.

Guardiola has made a total of eight changes to his starting lineup following Wednesday's disappointing EFL Cup quarter-final defeat against Southampton, with Kevin De Bruyne one of those changes, and he will captain his side in the 189th Manchester derby.

First-choice goalkeeper Ederson replaces Stefan Ortega between the sticks, while Kyle Walker switches over to right-back after starting in central defence in midweek, joining Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Joao Cancelo in the back four; Aymeric Laporte and Sergio Gomez both drop down to the substitutes' bench.

De Bruyne returns to a three-man midfield along with Rodri and Bernardo Silva, while Haaland and Foden are joined in attack by in-form winger Riyad Mahrez, who has scored six goals in his last seven City matches.

Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan, Julian Alvarez and Rico Lewis all begin on the substitutes' bench, while John Stones and Ruben Dias are not involved due to respective fitness and hamstring issues.

As for Man United, Erik ten Hag has made nine changes to the starting lineup that beat Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup, with the Tyrell Malacia and Fred the only two players who retain their places.

The inclusion of Malacia sees Luke Shaw start as a left-sided centre-back alongside Raphael Varane, with Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof all on the bench; right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka completes the back four.

Fred, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are all set to line up in centre-midfield, with Bruno Fernandes expected to join Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack.

Despite scoring in midweek, Antony has been left out of the first XI, joining youngsters Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga and Kobbie Mainoo on the bench.

Manchester United starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Shaw, Malacia; Fred, Casemiro, Eriksen; Fernandes; Rashford, Martial

Subs: Heaton, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof, Mainoo, McTominay, Antony, Elanga, Garnacho

Manchester City starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Ake, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo; Mahrez, Haaland, Foden

Subs: Ortega, Lewis, Phillips, Laporte, Gundogan, Alvarez, Gomez, Grealish, Palmer
