AZ and Manchester United played out a goalless draw in Thursday's Europa League group game in the Netherlands.

Both teams had half-chances during the 90 minutes of football, but neither could find the back of the net - leaving United with four points to show from their two Group L fixtures this season and AZ with two.

Read how it all unfolded in Sports Mole's minute-by-minute live coverage of the action below.

So there we have it - the referee brings the second period to a close with the two teams level at 0-0. The result has left United top of the section with four points from their two Group L fixtures, while AZ are third with two. I shall leave you with the match report from what was a fairly uneventful contest. Hope to see you again very soon!

FULL TIME:  AZ 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED

Not an awful lot to report in added time - but it is worth mentioning that Rojo and Lindelof have both been very good at the heart of the United defence, while Williams has also impressed at left-back. The Red Devils are finishing with 10 men here.

Lingard has just walked off the field holding his leg - not good news!

YELLOW CARD!  Dalot (Man United) is booked for a foul on Idrissi.

We are into the first of three additional minutes in this European tie.

Good football from AZ in the last couple of minutes, but the home side cannot work the final pass as Gomes steps across to make the clearance for the away team.

AZ SUB! De Wit is replaced by Hatzidiakos for the home team.

If there is going to be a winner then it will have to come very late indeed. A draw would move United onto four points in the section and leave AZ with two from their two games.

CHANCE!  Big chance for United as McTominay finds Lingard in a dangerous position, but the Englishman's powerful attempt just misses the crossbar. So close!

SHOT!  Rashford sends a free kick harmlessly over the home side's crossbar.

MAN UNITED SUB! McTominay replaces Mata for the visitors.

You do get the feeling that something is going to happen in the latter stages of this match. A point would be a decent result for United, but a win would be huge.

PENALTY APPEAL!  Rashford goes down inside the AZ box, but neither the linesman nor the referee give it! It did appear that the England international was taken out by Wuytens there.

Stengs delivers another dangerous cross into the United box, but De Gea watches it out of play and United will have a goal kick. McTominay will soon enter the field here.

SAVE!  Another decent save from De Gea to keep out a strike from Sugawara with AZ threatening once again. You do get the feeling that something is going to happen late on.

MAN UNITED SUB! Lingard replaces Greenwood for the away side.

SHOT!  Idrissi misses the post with a powerful strike! It was some hit from the number 11, although it was always moving wide of the away side's goal.

Williams is back on his feet for the away side and seems fine to continue, which is good news. Little over 10 minutes of the second period remaining with the score still goalless.

Williams is down for United, and the physio will need to be called onto the field. AZ had threatened with a corner moments before, although United managed to clear their lines.

SAVE!  De Gea makes a decent save to keep out a strike from Wijndal.

Rojo has to clear a dangerous cross from Wijndal as AZ threaten to make the breakthrough. In fairness to Rojo, the Argentine has defended well tonight. Little under 20 minutes of the second period remaining, and the home side are currently on the attack.

SHOT!  Gomes misses the home side's target with a wild strike from distance.

United win a corner after smart work from Matic, who took it upon himself to drive forward as no-one else was prepared to take the risk. Little over 20 minutes remaining here.

Rashford's first involvement is to lose the ball and then concede a foul in an attempt to regain possession. Not great from the forward, who is under real pressure at the moment.

MAN UNITED SUB! Out of nowhere Rashford steps to the touchline and United make their first change of the match with the Englishman replacing James.

Still goalless as we head for the final 25 minutes of action, and there is also still no movement on either bench. Surely both managers will be thinking about alterations.

Just a reminder that a draw tonight would move United onto four points in the section. It has been a poor performance from the visitors, but a draw would be a good result.

SHOT!  Sugawara fires harmlessly over the United crossbar from distance.

United enjoy a good period of possession in the final third, but the move breaks down when Fred loses control. There does not seem to be much invention from the visitors as they continue to go through the middle and into AZ bodies. Still goalless here.

You do wonder when Solskjaer might think about changes. Gomes has struggled to get into tonight's match, while the same can also be said for Greenwood. Lingard and Rashford would surely be the two players in the thinking of the United boss here.

AZ claim another handball after a dangerous low cross from Idrissi, but once again the referee is not interested. The home side are having some joy in the wide positions.

Both sets of players are struggling to get hold of the ball at the moment as it bounces all over the place. AZ have just had a decent moment inside the United box, but Sugawara's dangerous low cross had no takers inside the box. Still goalless in this Europa League tie.

James has not really had the chance to use his pace tonight, which is a shame for United as the likes of Vlaar would not be able to keep up with the Wales international.

There has been a lot of attacking intent from AZ in the early stages of the second period, but United continue to hold firm in a defensive position. You do get the feeling that one goal would be enough to win this game as neither attack has been too impressive.

Early shout for a penalty in the second period as Dalot appears to handle inside his own box, but the referee is not interested - it would have been a harsh decision.

... no changes from either side at the break, which is not too much of a surprise. However, you suspect that both managers will have alterations in mind as the play develops.

KICKOFF:  AZ resume the action in the Netherlands...

BENCH WATCH! Solskjaer has plenty of attacking options on his bench tonight with the likes of Chong, Lingard and Rashford all available. AZ, meanwhile, have options in the shape of Clasie, Aboukhlal and Druijf. Will either manager make a change at the interval?

STATISTICS! United just about shaded the first-half possession with 54%, while they managed three attempts, although none of them were on target. AZ, meanwhile, hit the target with two of their four shots in the opening 45 minutes. No yellow cards to report here - in truth, there has not really been a single challenge of note on this artificial surface.

So there we have it - the referee brings the first period to a close with the two teams level at 0-0. Both have had their moments in the final third of the fold, although neither has really done enough to deserve to be ahead at this stage of the contest. All square.

HALF TIME:  AZ 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED

All United in terms of possession in the latter stages of the first period, but it does appear that the two teams will enter the half-time interval on terms here.

Lindelof hits an interesting long-range pass towards Greenwood, but Vlaar is on hand to make another important clearance. The home side then break down the other end with Idrissi, only for Lindelof to come across and play the ball back towards his own goalkeeper.

It must be said that there is a wonderful atmosphere inside the stadium tonight. Both teams have had their moments in the final third of the field, although neither has really done enough to deserve to be ahead at this stage. Not long left in the first period here.

Little over five minutes of the first period remaining, and both teams have had chances in the second half of the first period. It has developed into a decent game in the Netherlands.

CHANCE!  Big chance for United to take the lead as Dalot finds Gomes at the far post, but the teenager makes a mess of his first shot before seeing his second blocked!

AZ continue to enjoy positive moments in the final third, but United have defended quite well in the first 35 minutes of this game. Still goalless in this Europa League tie.

CHANCE!  Big chance for the home side this time as Boadu finds himself free inside the United box, but the number nine can only head into the arms of De Gea from close range.

SHOT!  Half-chance for United as James delivers a low cross into Greenwood, but the forward sees his strike blocked by Vlaar. Excellent pace from James to keep the ball in.

United are getting the ball into wide positions through Williams and Dalot, but there is absolutely no-one in the middle of the box. Well, James is available, but the Wales international is not going to be winning many headers against Vlaar to be perfectly honest.

The home fans are in fine voice at the moment, while a word for the United supporters, who have also travelled in their numbers. Little over 15 minutes of the first period remaining, and it has not been the best of games thus far to be brutally honest.

It must be said that the ball is taking some huge bounces on this pitch, which cannot be easy for the players. It almost feels as if they are playing on concrete! There have hardly been any slide challenges in the first 28 minutes, which is not much of a surprise.

Williams had been nice and tidy down the left for United, but there is hardly anything happening for the away side in the final third of the field. Goals have been a real issue for the Red Devils since they put four past Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season.

AZ keep the pressure on United with two more corners in quick succession, but the away side manage to clear their lines. All of the good football is coming from the Dutch side.

Wijndal delivers another dangerous cross into the United box and Rojo has to make another impressive defensive header. The resulting corner is delivered into a dangerous position and Gomes concedes another as he fires behind his own goal - strange clearance!

AZ have only been Dutch champions twice - they are going very well in the league this season, though, and have impressed in the first 20 minutes of this European contest.

AZ were not really involved in the opening 10 minutes of the match, but the Dutch outfit are certainly the better team at the moment. Nothing happening in the final third for United with the likes of Mata and James struggling to feed Greenwood here.

SAVE!  Really smart save from De Gea to keep out a low strike from Idrissi!

United have not had the ball for some time. AZ are causing problems in the final third and Vlaar has just picked out Stengs with a brilliant pass, but Williams was across to challenge.

Much better from AZ in the last few moments - the Dutch side are very much on the front foot at the moment with United struggling to gain a foothold in the contest.

DISALLOWED GOAL!  Boadu finds the back of the net with a clever header, but the offside flag is raised. Clear decision, but it was a smart header from the teenage forward.

Bit of possession for AZ in the last couple of minutes, but the Dutch outfit are not threatening to cause the visitors a problem. A smart pass from Boadu threatened to release the young forward, but the number nine could not run away from Rojo here.

Pass, pass, pass from United as they continue to boss the possession. The home side are very deep at the moment - it is fairly similar to the tactic that Astana used at Old Trafford and that almost worked in terms of a result. United need some invention.

Fred strikes one from distance, but the Brazilian's attempt is blocked. AZ are not really offering anything in the final third at the moment, though. All United with eight minutes played.

Dalot makes ground down the right before looking to deliver, but Koopmeiners is across to make a smart challenge. Still goalless with six minutes on the clock in Den Haag.

United have dominated the ball in the early exchanges with AZ yet to cause any problems in the final third of the field. James is almost standing centrally at the moment with Greenwood out to the right, and that positional switch is certainly one to keep an eye on.

... this match is taking place at ADO Den Haag's ground on an artificial surface after the collapse of part of a stand at AZ's own stadium meant the Dutch outfit were unable to officially host the Red Devils tonight. It will be interesting to see how United deal with the surface.

KICKOFF:  United kick things off tonight...

The home side will enter the match off the back of three straight league victories, but United have made their worst start to a top-flight campaign since the 1989-90 season. It will be very interesting to see how Untied deal with the artificial pitch tonight!

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made eight changes to the team that started against Arsenal with David de Gea, Victor Lindelof and Daniel James the only three to keep their spots. Mason Greenwood will lead the attack while there is a first start for academy graduate Brandon Williams at left-back. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire are on the bench for the visitors.

Former Aston Villa centre-back Ron Vlaar starts at the heart of the AZ defence, while Oussama Idrissi is joined in attack by 20-year-old Calvin Stengs and 18-year-old Myron Boadu. Netherlands Under-21 international Teun Koopmeiners will skipper the team from the middle of the park, while there is also a spot in the XI for 19-year-old defender Owen Wijndal.

TEAMS!

AZ: Bizot; Wijndal, Vlaar, Wuytens, Sugawara; Koopmeiners, De Wit, Midtsjo; Idrissi, Boadu, Stengs

UNITED: De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Rojo, Williams; Fred, Matic; James, Gomes, Mata; Greenwood
