Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic eyes "special" Champions League campaign

Nemanja Vidic believes that Manchester United can do something "special" in the Champions League, despite the club's poor league campaign.

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has suggested that he could lift the Champions League trophy with the Red Devils before he leaves Old Trafford in the summer.

The North-West outfit have struggled in the Premier League during manager David Moyes's first season in charge, having dropped 11 points below fourth place in the table.

Despite their league position, Vidic is confident that United can do something "special" in Europe this season ahead of Tuesday's round-of-16 first leg against Olympiacos.

"I believe we can do something special in the Champions League," ESPN quotes Vidic as saying. "I really do.

"If we play solid, keep our shape, I think we will be a hard team to beat. We always have people who can score goals and that is the way you play in the Champions League - be hard to beat, but be able to score."

United will head into tomorrow's clash on the back of a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
