Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that he could sign Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala in the next few days.
The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with the France international this summer, though Pellegrini has often stayed quiet when talking about a possible move.
However, the Chilean has now revealed that the 23-year-old could be heading to the Etihad Stadium before the start of the season.
"Some papers are maybe missing but we continue having interest in the player," he told BT Sport. "He wants to come so we will see what happens in the week."
City start the defence of their Premier League title next Sunday when they make the trip to Newcastle United.
