Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is set to remain at the Etihad Stadium this summer despite interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report.

Since joining the Citizens from Monaco in 2017, Silva has won six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, a Champions League and the Club World Cup.

Over his seven-year stint in Manchester, the Portuguese international has made 355 appearances, scoring 66 goals and providing 66 assists, and continues to be an essential player for Pep Guardiola's side.

Last term, the 29-year-old made 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists, helping his side claim a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Despite being heavily linked with a move to Barcelona toward the end of the 2023-24 season, it seems that Silva is now set to stay in Manchester for at least another year.

Silva set to remain with Man City in 2024-25

According to Football Insider, PSG had signalled their interest in signing the Portugal international this summer but never tabled an official bid for him to the Citizens.

Silva has also admitted in the past that while he loves being a part of City, he does have hopes of one day playing for Barcelona.

The Catalans have frequently been rumoured to have been in discussions with the player but their financial constraints have often affected their ability to meet his release clause.

The report adds that despite the constant speculation over his future, the 29-year-old midfielder is now expected to remain at the Etihad in 2024-25 after receiving reassurances over his place in the squad from Guardiola.

City renewed his contract last summer, offering him another two years in Manchester, while also including a reported £50m release clause in his deal.

Guardiola willing to allow 'unhappy' players to leave this summer

Man City have had a fairly quiet transfer window compared to some of their Premier League rivals, with Savinho being the only confirmed signing to date.

While there is still enough time for that to change, it seems likely that there could be a few high-profile departures this summer, with Guardiola reportedly prepared to allow any unhappy player to leave the club if their issues cannot be resolved.

This follows Julian Alvarez hinting that he might seek a move away from Manchester this summer in search of regular playing time.

The 24-year-old is currently away with Argentina at the Paris Olympics and is expected to engage in discussions with Guardiola upon returning to Manchester.

Kalvin Phillips is also believed to have asked to be sold this summer, having never reached the heights expected since joining the Citizens from Leeds United in July 2022.
