Alan Shearer: 'Manchester City full of errors and mistakes'

Alan Shearer says that Manchester City "didn't play well" in their 2-0 victory over Aston Villa yesterday.

Alan Shearer has said that Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa yesterday evening was "full of errors and mistakes".

Manuel Pellegrini's side fought their way to the win, and didn't take the lead until the 82nd minute.

Yaya Toure netted the opener with his first league goal of the season before Sergio Aguero sealed all three points late on.

However, Shearer told BBC Sport that he wasn't entirely impressed with the manner of the victory.

"They played well in the last 10 minutes, but their performance was full of errors and mistakes," Shearer said.

"I think they felt they just had to turn up and they'd win, but that doesn't happen in the Premier League.

"It was about winning and getting three points and they did it, but I didn't think they played well."

The result leaves Manchester City in second place, although Southampton could leapfrog them if they win this afternoon.
