Manuel Pellegrini worried about Manchester City defence

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini admits to being worried by the volume of goals that the Citizens have been leaking in recent outings.

Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he is concerned about the number of goals that his Manchester City team have been conceding lately.

Pellegrini's side crashed out of the League Cup after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The defeat rounds off a miserable eight days for City, who spurned a two-goal lead away to CSKA Moscow last Tuesday before going down 2-1 to West Ham United on Saturday.

"We are conceding goals," he told BBC Sport. "We are not moving the ball as fast as we normally do.

"It was not a good week. We drew in Russia and have had two defeats but we must continue trying to recover, to think about the future."

The Chilean will look to reinvigorate his troops now in preparation for Sunday's derby with Manchester United at Eastlands.
