Mauricio Pochettino eyes up League Cup triumph

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that his side can go all the way in the League Cup after booking a quarter-final date with Newcastle United.

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his Tottenham Hotspur team have a realistic chance of winning the Capital One Cup this season.

Spurs edged out Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at White Hart Lane tonight and were subsequently paired with Newcastle United - who eliminated Manchester City - in the quarter-final stage.

"Getting into the quarter-final was the objective, so we are happy," he told reporters. "All potential trophies are realistic for us [to win].

"We played very well and created a lot of chances. After Sunday it was difficult as we played well but didn't make the chances."

Second-half goals from Erik Lamela and Harry Kane proved enough to down the Seagulls.

Tottenham have not won a trophy since 2008, when former manager Juande Ramos led them to League Cup success in the final against Chelsea.
