Kompany: 'We want more glory'

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes that it is time to forget about last season's Premier League title win and focus on future success.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has urged his teammates to put their Premier League title win to the back of their minds and focus on the new season.

The blue half of Manchester ended 44 years of hurt in the dying minutes of the final day of the season to snatch the league trophy from their biggest rivals Manchester United.

Despite the historic moment, Kompany believes that there is much more to come for Roberto Mancini's side in the coming years.

"That last game was one that will remain a very strong part of our history," said Kompany. "We'll be speaking about this game for 50 or even 100 years to come. It's been a big story all over the world. But again, this is over now, and I'm looking forward. It's about what's lying ahead.

"In the same way that I enjoyed it, I'm kind of looking forward now and one of the main things for me is not looking back at this game for too long. I just want to move on.

"I think there's so much more great stuff ahead of us, and that's what interests me. We've said it before. You lay down the foundations and, if you do it right, you can be successful for a long time and that's the aim."

City will kick off their 2012-13 season with a home fixture against newly-promoted side Southampton on August 18.
